CBB Gambling Guide 1/21

Brainiac’s guide to betting CBB for Monday, January 21st.

With my degenerate partner in gambling, Disco, on the CR (crippled reserve), I will go at this slate of Monday games on my own. I’m coming off a horrible Saturday of 1-5 ATS which wrecked my overall ATS record for the season (18-16). Oh well, gambling is a game of runs. Let’s get this money.

#10 Virginia Tech vs. #11 North Carolina (-4.5)

Brainiac: Nothing like a big time ACC battle in the Dean Dome. Virginia Tech is coming off a blowout loss against its in-state rival Virginia. North Carolina is still trying to find their identity, but they usually find a way to win. Virginia Tech will come out trying to prove they can compete with the big dogs of the ACC, but I think after 40 minutes of play the Tar Heels will come out on top. Take North Carolina -4.5.

#13 Maryland vs. #6 Michigan State (-9)

Brainiac: These are arguably the two hottest teams in the Big Ten. Maryland is riding a 7-game winning streak while the Spartans are on an 11-game tear of their own. Michigan State has the home court advantage and is the more well-rounded team, but don’t sleep on the young talent of Maryland. I think it will be tough for Maryland to go on the road and win this, but I think they can keep it within 9 points. Maryland +9 is the play here.

#24 Iowa State vs. #9 Kansas (-6)

Brainiac: Kansas is somehow still ranked in the AP top ten after a loss to a bad West Virginia team. They’re still ranked high solely because of the weight their name carries. I’m still not impressed by the Jayhawks. Even though they are at home for this matchup, I still don’t trust them. All of their Big 12 wins have been by single digits. Iowa State won the previous matchup earlier in the season by 17. I think this game could be won by either team, and I see Iowa State having a better chance of covering this six point spread. Iowa State +6.
