Tennessee (-14.5) vs. Alabama
Disco: Tennessee is an phenomenal basketball team and they have won a lot of blow out games so far this year. I have them beating Alabama like they stole something, and I think Admiral Schofield will have a huge game. He’s built like a brick shit house and can shoot the lights out.
Auburn (-4.5) vs. Kentucky
Disco: Kentucky hasn’t been their normal Kentucky self so far this year but this team is going to gel and they’re going to make a run in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. I saw them play in their summer series in the Caribbean and I don’t know if there is another team that is as full as they can be when they’re clicking. They’ve got shooting, rebounding, and dominate big men when everything goes right. I see Saturday being the first time we’re seeing this Kentucky team hit its potential in a big game.
Temple (-9) vs. Penn
Disco: There’s nothing better than Big-5 basketball, especially when Villanova isn’t dominating everyone like usual. We saw Penn beat Nova early this year, and they’re a talented basketball team. I am very high on Temple this year and I see them sliding into the Top 25 sooner rather than later. I’m going to take Penn +9 but I see Temple winning the game outright.
Brainiac’s Record ATS: 17-11
#2 Michigan (-2.5) vs. Wisconsin
Brainiac: The Wolverines enter Saturday 17-0 and well deserving of their #2 ranking. I think they could be the most complete team in the country. John Beilein deserves a bunch of credit, as he’s somehow led this team to an undefeated season after losing multiple guys to the draft last year after their national championship run. Wisconsin is a top half Big Ten team but nothing special to write home about. This line is only close because the game is in Wisconsin, but I don’t expect the game to be closer than five in favor of the Wolverines. Take Michigan -2.5.
#7 Kansas (-5.5) at West Virginia
Brainiac: Kansas hasn’t impressed me this season, but they’re still a solid, typical Kansas team. They are without their big man Udoka Azubuike, who they are missing greatly. I’m still convinced West Virginia stinks out loud, so I’m waiting for them to prove me wrong. I don’t expect that to happen this Saturday in Morgantown. Kansas -5.5.
TCU vs. Kansas State (-2.5)
Brainiac: I don’t love this matchup, especially with TCU on the road. Kansas State has beaten or been in a close game against all of their Big 12 games this season except for against Texas. I’m simply high on TCU because of their coach Jamie Dixon, and the fact they’re coming off a beatdown on West Virginia. This is gonna be a close game throughout, but I see TCU getting a much needed road conference win. TCU +2.5 is the play here.
#20 Oklahoma vs. Texas (-4.5)
Brainiac: Texas is on a three-game losing streak, with all three losses coming by six points or less. They are a solid team but just really haven’t been able to close games this season. Oklahoma has lost three of their last five, but Kansas State was their only bad loss during that stretch. I don’t particularly love this line on the game, but I expect the Red River Rivalry to be a nail-biter with Oklahoma coming out on top or keeping it within 4 points. Oklahoma +4.5.
NC State (-2) vs. Notre Dame
Brainiac: I rarely bet on my Fighting Irish, but today is gonna be different. Notre Dame played one of their best games of the season in a close loss at UNC. TJ Gibbs has underperformed this season, but I think this is going to be his breakout game. Then there’s John Mooney, a double-double machine who can get hot from three. That’s exactly what I see him doing against a beat up NC State team. They are most likely without their point guard Markell Johnson, and they have struggled to have any offensive flow since losing him. I like Notre Dame defending their home court in this one. Notre Dame +2.
#8 Texas Tech (-4) vs. Baylor
Brainiac: Texas Tech is coming off a tough loss handed to them by Iowa State. I expect them to come out pissed off, trying to prove a point against an up-and-down Baylor Bears squad. Baylor has been in every game this season with most of their losses coming by a few points. I see a determined Texas Tech team breaking that trend and beating Baylor by five points or more in Waco. Texas Tech -4 is your best bet here.
